Hello. I'm Kristina.

I've been writing stories since early childhood. While you won't find any of those compositions in this portfolio, all of those silly little anecdotes, songs and tales of fiction — always written just for fun — established a lifelong love of storytelling.

For me, journalism is about so much more than reporting the facts of a story. It's about painting a picture, setting a scene — creating an experience for someone, even if he or she wasn't there to experience an event firsthand. But the best way to deliver a story goes beyond the words we use — thanks to new media, it's possible to integrate literal sights and sounds into a narrative, and even the way in which a print story is designed can contribute to its impact. These are all techniques I've had a lot of fun with.

Journalism has also allowed me to combine my fiery passion for music with my love of storytelling. These elements are two of the most ancient human traditions, and bringing them together is magical for me every time.

Journalism is an adventure, and I can't wait to see all the fantastic places it takes me.
